Losi Mini Slider - Dirt Oval

Postby RCJimD » Mon Apr 04, 2011 7:19 pm

Anybody got a mini slider or mini sprint they want to run on a short dirt oval? The track is in great shape! We ran a bunch of laps Sunday afternoon and had a blast! I suspect we will be running Thursday nights and possible sometime during the weekends. We really like running at night and after a single watering the moisture stays very constant and the traction is perfect. We are running mostly stock sliders,

The track is 83 feet measured around the middle with a lane width of about 7 feet. From one end to the other is is about 40 feet and I have a tarp that covers the entire track so the heavy rain can be kept at bay.

I have an I-Lap counter system but most of the time we just try to run in a pack and mix it up. We are running sliders but I suspect some of the guys will show up with mini sprints this year. On the sliders we are running the CC 2042 combo brush-less esc/motor. The original motor is probably a bit faster but we switched to the brushless and run 1750 LiPo packs and get 30 minutes of runtime!

North side of Des Moines, we would enjoy a few more casual racers to join the fun... You can find some youtube video searching on late night mini sliders You will recognize the track by the barking dog in the background.

Jon,

We are pretty casual, last night there were three of us and we started about 8 or so. We would love to have a few more guys come out! We actually joked last night, "wouldn't it be really cool to see about 10 or 15 cars on a two wide parade lap!" Well, that will never happen, I don't think Losi sold 15 of these things world-wide!

It is so fun to drive and watch the traction change as the night goes on. At first it is pretty good but then, about an hour into it, it REALLY starts to hook up!

I have three cars all running pretty good and even so anyone who can afford a mini slider or mini sprint (after you turn a few laps you'll be hooked) come on out.

Here is a bit of raw footage from Thursday nights race at Acorn Bottoms RC Park in Des Moines, Iowa. This footage was from the hot laps before we sat around the fire eating tater-tot casserole that was cooked in the dutch oven over the fire! Another perfect night at the track!

thats sweet. where abouts in dsm are you?

would you let a 4x4 short course truck run on it? it looks about perfect for high speed sideways fun.
If he disagrees with you, It's because you are wrong.

Monster,

Unless you have an 1/18th scale sct I think you would say something like, "Oh, ya, that is a small track".

We do get one guy show up occasionally that runs an AE 1/18 4x4 truck and it works okay. It looks like the mini-t style body and is an AE chassis.
